TRIOTRAIN - DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Although each TrioTRAIN project (AeroTRAIN, DynoTRAIN and PantoTRAIN) has a specific scope of action, they share the same management structure:

Steering the project outputs in the standards and regulatory framework: WP X and TrioTRAIN Advisory Council
The success of the TrioTRAIN projects relies closely on the integration of the project outputs into the European regulatory framework. This is why each TrioTRAIN project has one Work Package (WP X) specifically dedicated to the analysis of uncertainty and quality management. The goal is to produce results acceptable for integration into existing legislation as well as standardisation and certification processes. Results will initially be submitted to an “Advisory Council”, constituted by the European Railway Agency (ERA) and a few key National Safety Authorities (NSAs).

The Advisory Council, to which membership is independent from the TrioTRAIN project consortium, ensures that the project’s main deliverables (models certification processes, requests for change of standards and technical regulations etc.) are understood, endorsed and eventually accepted by the National Safety Authorities (NSA) and the European Railway Agency (ERA), in terms of impact on the overall railway system interoperability and safety.

The Advisory Council guarantees that project findings will at a minimum, maintain the highest level of the system safety when Technical Specification for Interoperability (TSI) are being implemented, while at the same time contributing to an easier and swifter European certification and acceptance process for Rolling Stock.

The main tasks of the Advisory Council members will therefore be:

  • To provide feedback on specific and selected documents based on their experience within the three TrioTRAIN projects
  • To ensure that the concepts developed by the TrioTRAIN projects can be easily integrated into their own assessment procedures.

The Advisory Council will furthermore promote results and the TrioTRAIN philosophy towards the European institutions and other non Advisory Council NSA members, and all relevant stakeholders involved in interoperability and cross acceptance agreements. This will help to disseminate successful project outcomes.
